Justices End Federal Abortion Right. Life Wins!

LAUREL IMER RESPONDS TO SUPREME COURT

OPINION ON ROE v. WADE

Golden, CO , Republican candidate for Colorado’s 7th Congressional District, Laurel

Imer issued a statement regarding the unprecedented Supreme Court decision on Roe v. Wade. The majority opinion is written by Justice Samuel Alito.

"Writing in the majority opinion, Justice Alito said it best, “Roe was egregiously wrong from the start.” The opinion states there is no constitutional right to abortion services in the U.S. Constitution and would allow individual states to regulate or outright ban the procedure. You cannot invent a right that is not in the Constitution.

The matter of abortion will no longer be decided by unelected judges. Americans will be empowered to engage in civic discourse with elected officials at the state level which would empower outcomes that reflect the will of the people. This is the constitution working as it was designed. Yet the opportunity remains for citizens in their own communities to decide what their state’s position on abortion should be.

According to the Life Institute, more than 50 million babies’ hearts have been stopped and murdered since 1973. This landmark ruling has finally ended these heinous and murderous practices around the country at the federal level. I will fight to the bitter end to keep it from ever happing again.

Unfortunately, Democrats aren’t interested in seeing Americans engage in self-governance at the local level and this is made evident by efforts to pass legislation that would mandate abortion on-demand nationwide. They also have called for rage and violence in the streets.

There will undoubtedly be great outrage from Radical Left Democrats in the days to come

regarding this decision and the question of morality. Their reactions to the decision will in no

way represent the truth nor the content of the decision. The Left’s distortion of the facts about the implications of this ruling will continue. For some, the question is not one of moral

character, but profit. Planned Parenthood receives approximately $618 million in taxpayer

dollars annually, and as a non-profit organization, earns profits close to a billion dollars each

calendar year.

Please join me in praying for our Supreme Court Justices for their courage to make this historic decision. Please join me in praying for the empowerment of Americans in deciding how to value the life of our unborn through expanded state government authority and limited federal bureaucracy."
